Guna (MP), Jun 27 (PTI) Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Friday said the ideology of the Congress has not changed even after 50 years since the imposition of Emergency, which he termed the “most frightening phase” of India’s democracy.

He was addressing a ‘youth parliament’ programme organised by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) to mark the 50th anniversary of the Emergency.

“No countryman can forget June 25, 1975. Because on this day the chair of the Congress was shaking and elected representatives were put in dungeons by those intoxicated with power,” the Union Minister of Communications and Development of North East Affairs said.

“Today, even after 50 years, the thinking and ideology of the Congress has not changed. While the BJP’s ideology is ‘Nation First’, the Congress ideology is ‘Party and Leader First’. The slogan ‘Indira is India’ was the height of arrogance of the Congress,” he said.

Many leaders in the Congress-led Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance are those who were jailed during Emergency, he added.

He also hit out at the Congress for seeking the installation of Dr BR Ambedkar’s statue at the Gwalior bench of MP High Court.

“The same Congress forced Babasaheb Ambedkar to quit as a minister and also tried to ensure his defeat in polls,” he claimed. PTI COR BNS MAS BNM
