Doha, Sep 9 (AP) An explosion rang out Tuesday in Qatar’s capital city Doha.

It wasn’t immediately clear what exploded. Smoke could be seen in social media footage on the horizon.

Qatar is an energy-rich nation on the Arabian Peninsula. Al Jazeera, state-funded broadcaster, acknowledged the explosion, without elaborating. Officials in Qatar didn’t immediately answer telephone calls for comment. (AP) GSP
