Important cases heard by the Supreme Court on Wednesday, Sep 10 * Centre told SC that the gubernatorial assent to 90 per cent bills passed by state assemblies were granted within a month since 1970 and of the 17,150 total bills, assents were withheld in 20 cases only by governors.

* SC said those who investigate must also be probed as it ordered an FIR against former Delhi Police commissioner Neeraj Kumar in a two-decade old case, involving allegations of fabrication of documents and criminal intimidation.

* SC stayed an order of the Delhi High Court which directed the Delhi International Airport Ltd and other GMR Group entities to vacate Pushpanjali Farms in southwest Delhi.

* Activist Umar Khalid moved SC against the Delhi High Court’s order rejecting his bail plea in an Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act case related to the alleged conspiracy behind the February 2020 riots in the national capital.

* Taking exception to a rape survivor’s “piecemeal” examination by a trial court in West Bengal, SC has raised questions over her deposition being adjourned for four months. PTI PKS HIG
