New Delhi, Sep 17 (PTI) Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Wednesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set an example by not just flagging ground-level problems but also ensuring their solution.
He was speaking after inaugurating an Ayushman Arogya Mandir at Babar Road as part of the New Delhi Municipal Council’s (NDMC) Sewa Pakhwada (service fortnight) on the occasion of the prime minister’s 75th birthday.
Scindia also launched a mega health camp under the Centre’s 15-day Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar campaign aimed at improving women’s health and nutrition, NDMC said in a statement.
“Maybe for the first time in our history we have such a prime minister who not only raised ground-level problems but also gave solutions to those problems,” Scindia said, citing the distribution of over 50 crore sanitary pads through Jan Aushadhi Kendras at Rs 1 each.
He added that the country’s development is incomplete without women’s empowerment.
Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa was also present on the occasion.
Sirsa said the Sewa Pakhwada was a pledge to accelerate the prime minister’s vision of a developed India. He noted that projects worth Rs 1.23 lakh crore sanctioned by the Centre for Delhi would be taken up under the campaign.
Another health centre was inaugurated at Dharam Marg by Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H D Kumaraswamy.
He said the initiative would improve women’s health and thereby strengthen families, describing it as an important step towards building a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
PWD Minister Parvesh Verma inaugurated an Ayushman Arogya Mandir at Sarojini Nagar.
Verma said the facility would cater not only to women but also to children and senior citizens. He urged residents to spread awareness about the health camps to ensure maximum participation.
NDMC vice-chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal also inaugurated another facility at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg. Chahal said five Ayushman Arogya Mandirs were being opened across NDMC limits, along with seven health camps.
Separately, the NDMC’s welfare department organised a free health check up and eye camp in collaboration with Max Healthcare and I-Clinix at the JJ Cluster in Vivekanand Camp, Chanakyapuri.
NDMC chairman Keshav Chandra said the health camps are offering cancer screening, immunisation, anaemia and tuberculosis testing, nutrition services and registration under Ayushman Bharat, Aabha and PM-JAY portals.
The NDMC is observing the Sewa Pakhwada from September 17 to October 2 with a focus on health, cleanliness and social welfare initiatives. PTI MHS MHS RUK RUK
